Sandwell Upgrades Facility

APRIL-17---Reception1
Added on May 4th 2017

Each year October/November heralds the start of what is the busiest time of year for Sandwell. This year – just to keep things interesting

Sandwell decided to undergo a major factory restructure at the same time. Our timing was not ideal – but we made it -

and thanks to the hard work and co-operation of the whole team we managed to complete on schedule, whilst also meeting the expectations of our customers – in what turned out to be our busiest year ever.

The restructure is a major investment for Sandwell and demonstrates our commitment to expanding and improving our processes and reacting to the needs of our customers.

Most significantly, we have expanded our coating facility, having installed new equipment which is now operational. This allows us to respond to the increased demand for our specialist coating services and gives us a dedicated ‘clean’ coating facility, with additional PLC controlled curing.

We have also relocated and expanded our automated peening department, with our exciting new robotic peening machine now operational. This centralisation of automated peening activities allows us a more efficient and streamlined process path especially where multiple processes are required.

We will shortly be introducing a new ERP system to link through our various process and quality systems. This will link machines and staff throughout the company and will indicate latest customer requirements and real time progress of all components on site.

The factory re-vamp was a response to increased customer demands and gave us the opportunity to review efficiency throughout the company. We now have a facility that equips us to concentrate on serving our customers in the best way we can and to continue to develop our knowledge, skills and to stay abreast of developments in our specific fields of surface engineering.

More visibly to most visitors to our premises is the new reception and relocated office and meeting rooms. This was just one of those lightbulb moments when we began the planning – and although undoubtedly this has caused more headaches than most of the move – we feel it has been worth it. We hope you will agree.

We are now settling in and enjoying the rewards of our hard work and investment. If anyone is interested in viewing our changes we would be happy to show you round.
